Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director/Curator, the Education Assistant works to run the educational activities, programs, projects and special events of the museum. Duties can include but not limited to:
1. Facilitate educational programs. For example conducting tours, hands-on activities, and day camp to a diverse audience of all ages.
2. Prepare research materials and hands-on activities for educational tours and events.
3. Design, organize, plan and run educational activities including day camps.
4. Create a Saskatchewan curriculum guide binder that includes programming and activities.
5. Prepare and distribute promotional posters, flyers and pamphlets for exhibits, programs and special events.
6. Represent the museum at key functions and events; this may include speaking to the media and the public about the museum and its programs.
7. Assisting with the digitization of the museum's collection including storing, photographing, updating forms and data entry, as time allows.
8. General cleaning and maintenance of artifacts, museum, and its grounds.
9. Answering emails and the phones, taking bookings and serving as a public liaison.

Qualifications:
Required:
1. Good written and verbal communications skills.
2. Comfortable working with the public of all ages and backgrounds.
3. Prior experience working with large groups of children (10-20 individuals).
4. Prior experience running craft activities and games.
5. Knowledge of, and training in, the Saskatchewan system and curriculum.
6. Ability to perform physical tasks.
7. Able to work independently.
8. Students who are under 30 and currently enrolled in full-time studies, and who will return to those full-time studies in the fall, and who meets the rest of the YCW eligibility requirements are welcome to apply for the position.

Desired:
1. Prior experience working in an educational institution, museum, art gallery or library.
2. Prior experience teaching children or running day camps.
3. Experience with event planning and marketing.
4. Experience compiling information.
5. Working knowledge of Windows, Internet, Microsoft Office and Photoshop.
6. Post-secondary courses in one or more of the following areas: Education, Museum Studies, Visual Arts, History, Art History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Library Studies, Marketing, Photography and/or related field.

The museum is open 7 days a week. Due to this and some special events, some weekend and evening work will be required.
