Employment Opportunity under the Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions Program with Trinity Historical Society Inc. at the Trinity Museum, Trinity, NL

The successful applicant will be hired in the position of Museum Supervisor/Collections Manager at the Trinity Museum and will be required to set up and provide interpretation to its exhibits, train and supervise two staff members, provide educational programming and workshops and some basic collections management work. Applicants must be able to work with others as well as on their own and provide tours of the other exhibits at the site when necessary.

The project will commence about June 24, 2018 and is to be completed no later than September 1, 2018. The location of work is at the Trinity Museum, Church Road, Trinity, NL. The hourly wage will be $11.00/hr for a 35 hr work week for a period of 10 weeks.

The position requires some knowledge of the Trinity Historical Society, its aims, objectives, the history of Trinity and the province. Prior experience with working in a museum environment would be an asset as well as the completion of courses in the arts, folklore and/or history. Applicants should also be familiar with using a computer. Any prior experience collections management would be considered an asset. Good communication skills are essential for this position as well as basic French and fluency in English is required. Trinity Historical Society is an equal opportunity employer.

The applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 30 at the start of employment; be legally entitled to work in Canada; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada; be registered in the YCW candidate inventory employment data bank; be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment; was a full-time student in the semester before applying for this position and have the intention to return to full-time studies in the semester following the end of this position; not have another full-time position and meet the eligibility criteria as described above.
