Employment Opportunity under the Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions Program with Trinity Historical Society Inc. at the Trinity Museum, Trinity, NL

The successful applicant will be hired in the position of Curator at the Court House and will be required to set up and provide interpretation for an exhibit of hooked rugs that commemorates the history of our province. The person will also complete promotional items such as leaflets, posters and press releases to market/promote the exhibit. He/She will also be responsible for putting in place an interpretation plan for the exhibit. Applicants must be able to work with others as well as on their own and provide tours of the other exhibits at the museum when necessary.

The project will commence about June 24, 2018 and is to be completed no later than September 1, 2018. The location of work is at the Court House, Dock Road, Trinity, NL. The position is for 35 hrs/wk at $11.00/hr.

The position requires some knowledge of the Trinity Historical Society, its aims, objectives, the history of Trinity and the province. Prior experience with working in a museum environment would be an asset as well as the completion of courses in history would be an asset. Applicants should also be familiar with using a computer, digital camera and computer programs such as Microsoft Word and some design program like Pagemaker, Photoshop or some other program. Good communication skills are essential for this position, must be comfortable in speaking to groups of people in an interpretive tour setting and must present themselves as well organized and personable. The student should also possess basic French and fluency in English is required. Trinity Historical Society is an equal opportunity employer.
