Position Title: Art Camp Counsellor
Location of Work: Winnipeg Art Gallery
Employment Period: June 18 to August 24, 2018
Rate of Pay: $13 per hour
Language of Work: English (French is an asset)
Position Description:
Reporting to the Summer Art Camp Director, Summer Camp Counsellor is an integral position of a team that provides a high-quality, educational and enriching experience in the visual arts for the children who attend art camps at the WAG in July and August 2018. The Art Camp Counsellor is responsible for ,livery of the art camps taking place in Studio Programs.
Duties of the Art Camp Counsellor include the following:
-attend an initial orientation to the WAG facilities, staff and the summer 2018 exhibitions
-complete basic training in First Aid and CPR
-complete the criminal reference check
-work with Youth Programs and Studio Programs staff to design age appropriate and safe program activities that link to the camp themes
-work with artists, other art camp counselors and children in studio programs
-help to serve lunch to the children
-help to load and unload children into the buses and accompany them on their excursions
-assist with the weekly art show of the children's work on the last day
-host the art show for the children and parents
-complete the art camp evaluations
-ensure the safety of the children at all times
Qualifications:
-completion of at least one year of post-secondary education at either university or community college
-previous experience in working with children
-enrolled as a full-time student for fall 2018
-less than 30 years of age
-experience in the visual arts is an asset
