WHAT: Festivals Kelowna Event Assistant for summer 2018
WHEN: May 15 - August 15th, 2018
WHERE: Kelowna, BC
WHAT ELSE: The right candidate is a creative person with awesome multitasking skills!
You are able to work with all kinds of people and have strong diplomacy skills. Perhaps there's a hidden artist inside you just itching to get out and rub shoulders with fellow artists. Using not only your creative and people skills, you are super comfortable on the computer and can easily use all the standard Office programs like Word and Excel, not to mention are a wizard with social media like instagram, twitter, and facebook.. You like working outside as well as in an office. You can lift event equipment with ease like chairs, tables, tents, etc. You can work with volunteers, and are comfortable speaking in public in front of large crowds (or at least, can learn to control the knee-knocking). If we're lucky, you'll even have previous event management experience or as a volunteer with special events. Who knows, you might even be in an event management program, which would be totally awesome. (see, your parents will finally "get" that you can actually find a job that's too much fun and uses your education)
**Since most of the work will be done while speaking and writing in English, only candidates whose first language is French will qualify for the position with us. YCWBOL is a program that gives students the opportunity to improve their second language skills. ***
HOW MUCH: you will get paid $12.50/hour plus the usual benefits (vacation pay, E.I., C.P.P.)
OTHER STUFF: You need to be able to finish your term with us from May to the middle of August since the events just won't be the same without you (and we'll actually need you to work them). You'll have to live in the incredible Okanagan during the summer, and work on your tan on your days off. Your boss is flexible but still expects great things from you including meeting deadlines, producing high quality materials, being creative, punctual, and taking initiative.
