The Dufferin County Museum & Archives requires an Archives Intern. The start date for this position is Monday, November 20th, 2017and the end date is Friday, March 30th, 2018. The successful applicant will review and update collections catalogue records for the nationally significant “W.J. Hughes Corn Flower” archival collection as the DCMA moves forward with a major gallery renovation. The intern will also prepare items from the DCMA Photograph Collection in preparation for upload to a collections record public website. The position will also be responsible for organizing and managing the outstanding collection donation records.

-The candidate must be a post-secondary graduate between the ages of 16 and 30
who has graduated within the past 24 months. The preferred candidate for this position will be a graduate from a recognized University or College program in Archival Sciences, Information Studies, Records Management or Museum Studies.

Note: This position is funded through Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage (graduate internships). Candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 30, Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents, and recent graduates (past 24 months) from a post-secondary institution. The following skills are requested for this position:

-Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
-Previous Experience with PastPerfect Software is an asset (not required)
- Understanding of computer and website terminology is an asset
-Must be able to lift and move artifacts, up to 25 lbs.
-Must be able to read handwritten documents
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest and desire to work in archives or records management
- High level of attention to detail
-Ability to establish priorities and effectively handle multiple tasks
-Highly energetic with excellent communication skills
-Ability to self-motivate and work collaboratively with supervisor

-The intern will require access to a vehicle, as there is no public transportation available to this job site.
