Pear Tree Education is Vancouver's most progressive after-school learning centre and K-7 private elementary school. As part of its extensive educational services, Pear Tree provides educational summer camps during July and August to students aged 5-14 at its 3 x camp locations. Courses are designed by Pear Tree's directors - both with Master of Education degrees - to combine theme and project-based learning. The camps are led by licensed and experienced school teachers, and managed by staff experienced with working for Pear Tree.

Pear Tree is looking for summer camp assistants to work alongside its teachers and management staff. It is a great opportunity for such assistants to gain valuable classroom experience within a very progressive education system, such as project-based learning. Assistants will experience a wide arrange of amazing hands-on activities, some of which incorporate technology. There are obvious English language practicing opportunities, both with students and with adults.

Our summer camp assistants are expected work alongside our teaching staff. The role includes supervising children during the classes and activities. Summer camp assistants will be working from @ 9am - 5pm Monday-Friday (except on stat holidays). A 30-minute (paid) lunch break is provided at either 12-12.30pm or 12.30-1pm depending on scheduling requirements. Hot lunch is provided free of charge.

Requirements
- Enjoys working with and playing with children
- Patient and compassionate
- Able to maintain enthusiasm and energy for long duration of time
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive issues with discretion and understanding

Assets
- Previous experience working with or supervising children (e.g. coaching soccer, dance, summer camps)
- Currently completing post-secondary studies in the field of childhood education
