South Shore Public Libraries (SSPL), Bridgewater, NS, seeks Librarian Intern. This is a 14 week position, 35 hours per week at $12 per hour.
SSPL is medium sized Public Library system located on the South Shore of Nova Scotia with 4 town branches, a mobile library and an administrative office. The service area includes Lunenburg and Queens counties and has a total population of just under 60,000.
Job tasks include:
• Participate in the delivery of programming and special events at library branches. 
• Assist with materials and collection development.  
• Provide research, gather and collate data for new service plan for relocation of branch.
• Participate in program development team.
• Develop topical or thematic print and electronic resources on collections, programs and services.
• Provide Readers Advisory, referral, and information services to the public in SSPL branches.
• Participate in on-site learning opportunities such as Webinars and staff-delivered training sessions.
• Participate in the delivery of social media through writing blogs, developing web resources and other opportunities.
• Research and create new service plan for relocation of a town branch
• Supervise Branch
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The candidate will have an undergrad degree in Humanities, preferably in English or History, and be enrolled in an accredited MLIS program with at least one semester completed. Excellent computer and research skills are necessary. We are looking for someone who is passionate about public libraries who has a good work ethic and possesses problem solving skills. They should have proven leadership skills and be versatile and coachable.
