Cataloguing/Transcription Assistant- Yarmouth County Museum and Archives, 22 Collins Street, Yarmouth, NS, B5A 3C8. $10.70/hr for 35 hrs/wk. Duration: 13 weeks. Start date: May 29th, 2016. End Date: August 26th, 2017. Under the direct supervision of the Archivist and the Office Assistant, the Cataloguing/Transcription Assistant will work on two main projects: Researching influential Yarmouth businesses and transcribing the Doane Family Genealogies. The student will research, sort, and catalogue the material and create a Finding Aid to serve as a guide and add these records to the archival collection of the Yarmouth County Museum. The student will also help researchers who visit the archives. The Cataloguing/Transcription Assistant will also assist with the day to day operation of the Yarmouth County Museum Archives when the archivist is away and will help with other museum activities as needed. Must be fluent in English. Basic knowledge of spoken French an asset. Must be a full-time student returning to or entering a recognized university or college in the fall of 2017. Must be polite, dependable, outgoing, hardworking, and punctual. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, between the ages of 16 and 30 years, and without another full-time job.
