This position provides critical administrative and teaching support to the Gallery’s Public Programs Department and helps provide a positive and meaningful experience for participants.
The Summer Programs Assistant will work directly with the Public Programs Coordinator and Artist Educators to develop and implement Summer Art Camp programs and evaluate the program’s progress. Responsibilities include: assisting Artist Educators and children during art instruction; developing and leading children’s activities; supervising children; and assisting with program administration. The Summer Programs Assistant work with a wide range of art media, creative tools for teaching and learning, and cultivate an understanding of contemporary art and art practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be a returning Post-Secondary student in the Fall 2017
- Background and strong interest in an arts-related field such as art history, studio art, or art education
- Preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience working with children aged 7-14
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent team building and group management skills
- Proficient in Word and Excel
