The Winnipeg Humane Society is dedicated to protecting animals from suffering and to promoting their welfare and dignity. WHS is looking for an Adoptions Counsellor.
You will need to:
- Communicate effectively with all staff, volunteers, and customers.
- Vaccinate and microchip following appropriate training
- Good organization skills with attention to detail.
- Give appropriate information to clients regarding adoption and services available.
- Educate and enlighten the public in a manner that is respectful to all living things.
- Process adoptions in their entirety and ensure appropriate payment is received.
- Process and record all transactions required.
- Follow supervisory instruction with relation to adoption area processes.
- Perform animal maintenance (clean up) in kennels & rooms as required.
- Assist in the Gift Shop when necessary, including opening and closing duties, as well as a - routine cash handling and stocking.
The Adoption is open from 11am-7pm on weekdays.
The ideal candidate is someone with exemplary customer service skills, computer literate, afriendly and outgoing personality and physically able to handle large, sometimes unruly dogs. Ability to work independently and as a team. Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Directly accountable to the Manager of Retail Operations for the Performance of assigned duties. You will receive hands on training during employment.
