Remai Modern is seeking a Resource Centre Assistant to work in our non-lending resource centre and to prepare resource material in anticipation of the opening of Remai Modern. The Resource Centre is an important, specialized reference collection utilized by gallery staff and researchers. The Assistant would process and shelve new acquisitions, update the library database, ensure accuracy of holdings and cataloguing methodology, and organize the holdings in preparation for the move. Remai Modern is a thought leader and direction-setting art museum that boldly collects, develops, presents and interprets the art of our time. Our mandate is to enable transformative experiences by connecting art with local and global communities.
Job Title: Resource Centre Assistant
Location: former Mendel Art Gallery building, Saskatoon, SK
Salary: $19.81/HR
Term: May 1 – August 18, 2016 (16 weeks)
The ideal candidate is:
Pursuing/holding a university degree or diploma in library science or library and information technology, with an interest in fine arts and culture, and planning to return to school in the fall of 2016.
And has:
Knowledge and experience of current practices in library systems.
Demonstrated research and organizational skills.
Good communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to follow directions, pay close attention to detail and detect errors quickly.
Possess a high level of initiative.
Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with database software and library software is preferable.
Gallery/museum experience an asset.
