The POP Montreal International Music Festival is a not-for-profit grassroots organization that champions independence in the arts by presenting emerging and celebrated artistic talents from around the world.
Now entering its 25th year, POP’s main event is a five-day music and arts festival taking place in the early fall, featuring emerging local and international artists, as well as headliner performances and multidisciplinary events.
Job description:
The POP Montreal Marketing Department is in search of a highly motivated, organized, and creative student who is interested in working in the field of marketing within the Montreal arts and culture sector. The Segment Marketing Coordinator will, working with POP Montreal's Marketing Director, oversee all marketing and promotion for POP Montreal's Segments: Film POP, Art POP, POP Symposium (conference series), Puces POP (artisans' fair), Kids POP, and Marché des Possibles at l’Entrepot 77 (POP’s outdoor venue).
The Segment Marketing Coordinator will:
- Develop budgets for POP Segments (Film, Art, Symposium, Puces, Kids, and Marché des Possibles)
- Develop marketing, social media and printed media plans for POP Segments
- Oversee roll-out of deliverables and budgets for each Segment
- Oversee Segment social media, using Hootsuite, in collaboration with the Online Content and Community Coordinator
- Research Segment marketing partners, coordinate partner contracts, with support from Marketing Director
- Oversee and carry out booking, creation, proofing and submission of ads for Segments, collaborating with the Graphic Designer on ad layout
- Develop relationships for Segment outreach with appropriate schools, programs and courses, in collaboration with the Marketing Assistant
- Work with the Street Promotions team to ensure Segment promotion is included in street marketing efforts
- Arrange regular meetings with Segment Coordinators to review marketing plans
The ideal candidate:
- Has a degree/diploma or is pursuing studies in Marketing, Communication or Arts Administration, or has a combination of relevant education/work experience
- Is well-acquainted with both Mac and PC operating systems, as well as popular social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
- Can communicate clearly in both English and French (spoken and written).
- Has an active interest in contemporary arts and culture.
- Works well autonomously, and in a team.
- Is well-organized, attentive to details, and able to meet deadlines.
- Experience with Photoshop and InDesign is an asset.

The student:
- is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or has refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
- is legally entitled to work in Canada;
- will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- is willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
- will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment;
- has been a high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment;
- intends to return to studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment;
- has a working knowledge of both English and French.
