The successful candidate will help the collection department increase the available records on our e-museum for the public and researchers. The Registration Assistant will review records, assist with photograph, work directly with historical objects. They will work with the collection and curatorial team at each of the seven museum sites to care for objects.

The job is full time, Monday to Friday 8-4.

You must be eligible for Young Canada Works.

Job Duties:
Assist with the care and handling of artifacts and cultural objects being prepared for photography and return them to storage.
Keeping to Digital Asset Management protocols uploading, organizing and naming digital files.
Assist with scanning documents/photographs related to the objects.
Create meta data for digital files.
Review, edit and add images to collection records in PEIMHF’s database (Gallery Systems, The Museum System) keeping to standards set forth by the Registrar.
Assist with packing, transporting, and installing and inventorying objects at sites in collaboration with the collection department.
Contribute photo material for the museum’s social media platforms
Other related duties, responsibilities and functions as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Currently enrolled in postsecondary degree program in fine arts (textiles history, museum studies, archival studies or a related field.
Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve, organize and meet deadlines.
Excellent time management skills.
Access to reliable transportation.
Must satisfy Canadian Summer Jobs eligibility criteria
Experience using a collection database or digital asset management programs would be an asset.
Care and handling skills would be an asset.
