The summer student will review, update, and develop educational programming that draws on the museum’s collections and exhibitions. Working closely with the Curator and Collections Manager, the student will identify 2–3 key subject areas for which new learning modules, lesson plans, and interactive resources will be created. All materials will include clear curriculum links and be adapted for digital delivery through the WHM website.
This position will strengthen WHM’s educational offerings, expand access to museum-based learning, and support teachers, students, and community educators across Ontario and Quebec.
The duties of the student will include:
-Reviewing and updating existing educational programming
-Developing new educational modules and learning packages
-Creating lesson plans, worksheets, and interactive learning tools
-Establishing curriculum links for Ontario and Quebec
-Adapting all educational materials for digital presentation on the WHM website
-Assisting with the development of an outreach contact list for schools and education organizations
-Managing and organizing educational content files
-Production of a final report for the board
Basic Requirements:
-Background in Education, Public History, Museum Studies, or a related discipline
-Good computer skills
-Strong writing skills
-Ability to work for periods of time with minimal supervision
-Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
-Strong English skills
Assets (These are just bonus skills and not required to apply!):
-French language skills
-Familiarity with labour and working-class history
-Heritage or GLAM institution experience
-Experience with educational program or curriculum development
-Experience delivering educational programming
-Experience working with museum collections
