The Victoria County Historical Society will employ three Curatorial Assistants to work with its staff both in the museum in Lindsay Ontario (90 minutes north of downtown Toronto) and in its programming ( Their Votes Counted and First World War Comes to Life - both travelling programs).

Lindsay is in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes recreational area. The candidates should have an interest in heritage, and especially the work we are doing this summer on the role of women in Chinese Canadian immigrant communities of the early 20th Century, leading up to the anniversary of the ‘Chinese Riots’ in Lindsay in 1010.

All three positions require completed post-secondary courses, either in History, Museum Studies or Womens Studies.

Curatorial Assistant (CA) Position One will focus on helping organize and execute an inventory of museum artifacts as the museum transitions from a collection-based to a programming based institution.

CA Position Two will co-ordinate travel of our Their Votes Counted Canadian Heritage-funded exhibit about the first women to vote in a Canadian federal election

CA Position Three will involve researching background for a play being produced about the 1919 ‘Chinese Riots’ in Lindsay, from a feminist perspective.

Deadline for all applications is May 25, 2017. Please apply through the YCW webstie, CHIN, or directly to the museum at : info@oldegaolmuseum.ca
