Brief Job Description:
Reception:
• Greet walk-in community members/guests during office hours
• Check, respond to, and/or deliver telephone calls & voicemails
Communications/Promotions:
• Donor relations (sending thank-you cards and art along with prepared tax receipts)
• Assist with social media (Facebook & Instagram) posts and communications
• Assist with Website maintenance
• Assist with graphic design and promotions
• Special event support
Office Administration:
• Photo archive organization and editing
• Assist with collecting support materials for grant applications & reports
• Special event preparation and assistance
• Assist with guest artist accommodations
• Input participant contact information into database
• Assist with filing participant Child Abuse Registry Checks
• Assist with collating attendance
Workshop Facilitation:
• Facilitate art programming in a wide array of mediums and scales
• Engage participants of all ages & abilities
• Assist with workshop preparation and clean up
• Build/ foster relationships with Art City participants
• Assist Guest Artists with workshops
• Manage behaviour and resolve conflict as necessary
• Organize and maintain supplies
• Active participation in monthly staff meetings
• Assist with the production and execution of large-scale special events and fundraisers
• Assist Food Services Coordinator, as needed
Helpful Qualities:
• Proficient in Adobe programs
• Experience with the Google suite of products (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms etc.)
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Experience using tools
• Proficient in various art mediums
• A second language is an asset
• A drivers license is an asset
• Innovative and responsive to participant needs
• Experience working with children and/or youth
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to approach conflict in creative ways
• Ability to work well in a team
• Knowledge of inner-city issues: an understanding of the impacts of poverty, post-colonization, intergenerational trauma, and other challenges experienced by community members
• Ability to contribute to the successful delivery of arts programming
• A friendly and welcoming demeanor
• Comprehensive knowledge of Art City and its programs
• Able to adapt to shifting priorities
No specific degree or diploma required but to be eligible under the granting requirements the candidate must be a recent college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor's, master's or doctorate). The candidate must also be:
• a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);
• legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number); and
• between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment.
Note: Priority will be given to graduates that have not previously participated in YCW internship programs and that are unemployed or underemployed.
