Job Description: Outdoor Program Coordinator
Seasonal. Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Due to the nature of Recreation, this person will be required to work some evenings and weekends. Time in lieu shall be given for overtime hours. This is a 16 week position paying $11.70/hour, starting April 24 - August 18th.
Reporting: This position reports to Recreation Director
Description Overview
Using the Municipality’s beautiful open spaces and natural playgrounds, the Outdoor Program Coordinator shall be responsible to coordinate recreation and physical activities programs which connects people to nature. The Outdoor Program Coordinator will work with different target groups such as families, youth, and seniors. The Outdoor Program coordinator will also be responsible in promoting the benefits of outdoor recreation to the public.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
a) To plan, implement and evaluate Outdoor Recreation programs.
b) To implement a promotional plan for outdoor education and its benefits.
c) To work within the recreation budget.
d) To be innovative and creative in using the existing open space and natural play area to implement outdoor programming.
e) To be willing to take training if required.
f) To attend weekly internal staff meetings.
g) To document each program including recommendations for future planning.
h) To be responsible for the promotion of Outdoor Recreation Programs.
i) To be able to recruit volunteers when necessary.
j) To be able to effectively use the recreation online registration system “ActiveNet”.
k) To ensure that all events safety concerns have been address prior to implementation.
l) To be responsible for event equipment and materials such as prizes if necessary.
m) To assist with other recreation programs.
n) To deal with the public in a professional manner.
o) To perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in a University or Community College program in Recreation, Education, Kinesiology or Physical Education. Good organizational, leadership and communication skills are required. Any outdoor leadership certificates would be an asset. Any previous event or program coordination experience would be an asset. Good IT skills are required and preferably knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher. The candidate must be fluently bilingual in both French and English. Should have a valid Driver’s License. Must be between 16 and 30 years of age.
