$25.00 per hour, 7 hrs per day, 35 hours per week, 29 weeks beginning Sept. 2, 2025, and ending Mar. 27, 2026.

The StFX Art Gallery is seeking a recent graduate for its 2025-26 Curatorial Internship. Working closely with the Director, the Intern will play a key role in the gallery's administration and delivery of programming. First, they will assist in curatorial planning, installation, and programming for the exhibitions in the 2025-26 academic year. Interns will be given the opportunity to work on exhibition planning and design (online and in the gallery), curatorial writing, and public programming. Second, they will help manage the documentation, organization, storage, conservation, and preservation of the permanent collection.

Candidates must have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution and ideally demonstrate interest in the cultural sector. Studies in Art, Art History, Anthropology, History, Sociology, or Museum Studies will be considered an asset. Basic computer skills are required, and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly Photoshop, would be an asset, although the StFX Art Gallery can provide training in these areas. Priority will be given to recent graduates of St. Francis Xavier University.

This position is funded by the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage Program and St. Francis Xavier University.

Applicants must be recent post-secondary graduates between the ages of 16 and 30, and Canadian citizens or permanent residents entitled to work in Canada. Non-Canadian post-secondary graduates holding a temporary work visa or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible to apply under the terms of the YCW program.

StFX is located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
