The Canadian Transit Heritage Foundation (CTHF) is a non-profit, charitable foundation. It is Canada’s only national organization committed to providing education and other support to the Canadian public and to transit systems, industry organizations and educational institutions about the important role public transit has played in the economic growth and social development of Canada.
As an important part of our mandate, we have maintained an archive of public transit related materials, donated by CTHF members and other individuals and organizations. These have significant historical value and are located at a secure offsite location.
CTHF’s objective is to create from this collection a definitive online archive of Canadian public transit historical materials, to be made available electronically to the Canadian public. As an important part of this project CTHF requires the assistance of an individual to participate in the installation of and training on the software, and to receive and scan the materials that have been identified for preservation in digital form for the online archive. This work will be done in accordance with overall guidelines to be provided by CTHF. Support to and supervision of this position will be provided by a CTHF individual with the required subject knowledge.
The ideal candidate should be fluent in English and have well-developed information technology skills. Website development experience would also be helpful. The position may be of interest to candidates who are currently enrolled in a library science program.
This placement is for a sixteen-week period commencing on May 6, 2024 and ending on August 23, 2024. The work location will be at the office premises of the Canadian Urban Transit Association in downtown Toronto ON. Pay rate is $25.00 per hour and work hours are 7 per day, Monday to Friday.
