Job Title: Curatorial Intern, StFX Art Gallery, St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia

$25.00 per hour, 7 hrs per day, 35 hours per week, 30 weeks beginning Sept. 3, 2024, and ending Mar. 29, 2025.

The StFX Art Gallery is seeking a recent graduate for its 2024-25 Curatorial Internship. Working closely with the Director, the Intern will play a key role in the gallery's administration and delivery of programming. First, they will assist in curatorial planning, installation, and programming. Second, they will work on the documentation, storage, and preservation of the permanent collection. Interns will be given the opportunity to work on exhibition planning and design (online and in the gallery), curatorial writing, publication coordination, and public programming.

Candidates must have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution and ideally have knowledge of contemporary museum and curatorial practices through study in Fine Arts, History, Sociology, or Anthropology programs. Basic computer skills are required and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly Photoshop, would be an asset, although the StFX Art Gallery can provide training and experience in these areas. Priority will be given to recent graduates of St. Francis Xavier University.

This position is funded by the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage Program and St. Francis Xavier University.

Applicants must be recent post-secondary graduates between the ages of 16 and 30, and Canadian citizens or permanent residents entitled to work in Canada. Non-Canadian students holding a temporary work visa or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible to apply under the terms of the YCW program.
