The Township of James is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and project-focused individual to join its staff for the summer as an Artifact Cataloguer with the Elk Lake Heritage Museum.
The Elk Lake Heritage Museum interprets the history of the Elk Lake area. Displays relate the history of the local mining, logging, lumbering and agricultural industries, as well as that of the area's schools and churches. Early Canadiana artifacts and memorabilia from World Wars I and II are also exhibited.
Duties include but are not limited to:
-Catalogue artifacts.
-Label artifacts.
-Take photos of the artifacts.
-Enter data in a collections management system.
• Research the history and background of artifacts.
-Any other tasks as required by supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Strong interpersonal, writing skills
• Good time management skills
• Ability to use the computer, camera and scanner – medium to advanced skills.
• Team Player
•Organized & self motivated
•Appreciation for the care, treatment and preservation of artifacts
This is a temporary full-time student position starting July 4, 2022 for 8 weeks.
Candidates MUST be: (As required by Young Canada Works)
• Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
• legally entitled to work in Canada;
• between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
• willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
• not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with YCW;
• have been a full-time student (as defined by your educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW job;
• intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the summer;
• registered online with YCW
