This role will focus on revitalising the Heritage building of St Paul’s Anglican Church, French Village, overlooking beautiful St Margaret’s Bay, just 30 minutes drive from Halifax.
The church has a rich past and an exciting future as a community treasure to be developed as an interpretation and education facility and a location for special events. It will also serve as the centre and focus of the development of an extensive woodland property owned by the church into a conservation area. Amenities the woodland will provide for the community will include the establishment of a Green Burial conservation cemetery.
We need a recent graduate who is a nature lover with strong research skills, creative thinking abilities and a passion for clear communication, both orally and in writing.
The position will appeal to candidates who are looking to gain skills and unique experience relevant to a career in Heritage and/or environmental conservation. You will work on goals related to revitalizing a heritage building while developing project management, communication, event management and marketing skills.
Teamwork skills will be key to understanding and supporting students with diverse skills.
Ideally, you will have experience with community engagement initiatives and event planning. Attention to detail is critical for this work.
Ongoing work opportunities may be available at the conclusion of this project. You will also have had an opportunity to connect with many stakeholders from which other career openings may arise. And it can be expected that the experience gained will be in demand by other groups seeking to use the model in their own space.
The job can commence as early as April 2021 through to end of August, but there is some flexibility on start date.
Remuneration will be $19.00 an hour.
