OPEN TO STUDENTS ELIGIBLE FOR THE YOUNG CANADA WORKS PROGRAM

POSITION TITLE: REGISTRATION ASSISTANT
RATING: Group 3; full-time; 16 week term
This position is within the scope of the CUPE Collective Agreement

RESPONDS TO: Coordinator of Collections Management

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The position is responsible for the compilation and maintenance of clear and accurate records of the Museum’s collection.

Records new acquisitions into the Accessions Ledger.

Assists the Coordinator of Collections Management in inventory, documentation and packing the artefacts that will be moved into compact storage units.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent attention to detail
• Fast and accurate typing skills
• Knowledge of social history and art history of Central Alberta.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Knowledge and experience with museum collection database programs such as PastPerfect.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Self-motivated and able to work well in a team situation;
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for handling small and delicate items;
• Manual dexterity/creativity in designing and fabricating artefact storage mounts;
• This position does require some lifting and moving of large and heavy objects.

Please note that this position is contingent on grant funding from the Young Canada Works Program. Candidates must register on the YCW website and meet the YCW eligibility requirements.
