Position details:
We are seeking one or two dedicated Collection Assistant(s) to join us for a very important and exciting project--the relocation of our collections storage facility from our former museum, to a cold-war era Diefenbunker.
The Collections Assistant(s) will provide logistical support for moving the artifact collection including packing, numbering, and staging artifacts as per the relocation plan.

In addition to collection related duties, the Collections Assistant will assist the Society’s Curator and Assistant Archivist in producing virtual exhibitions. The virtual exhibition will require scanning and preparing photographs for virtual display. Programming related to the exhibit may also be developed and delivered.

The Collections Assistant(s) will have the opportunity to learn about how collections are stored, conserved and managed. The Collections Assistant(s) will also have the opportunity to conduct historical research for a Society exhibit and spend some time learning about museum programming.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of one year of post-secondary academic education with a proven interest in history, English, anthropology, etc.
2. Good computer skills, familiarity with digital photography an asset.
3. Ability to consistently perform delicate and detailed tasks at a high level.
4. Project management and customer service skills an asset.

Interview Process: all YCW candidates selected for interviews will be interviewed by a two person interview team including the Society’s Executive Director and the Society’s Archivist. A set list of interview questions will be prepared and used for each candidate. Interview questions will include several scenario questions to determine the candidates’ ability to think through a new and/or previously not encountered challenge.

Eligibility: all applications will be directed to the Executive Director who will in turn contact each interview candidate before the scheduled interview to review YCW eligibility requirements.
