The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia-Yarmouth is recruiting for a summer position available to a post-secondary student looking to gain work experience and develop skills in a dynamic cultural institution. The summer of 2017 will be an extraordinary time with exciting programs including Summer Arts programming for children/youth/adults, special groups, and the general public.
The candidate will have an excellent opportunity to develop skills across a range of artistic disciplines as well as skills in communication, organization, and research.

The candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Art Education or Museum Studies, or Community College or Childhood Studies, or a minimum of one year completed toward a degree or diploma in one of these areas and/or several years’ experience working in art, museum or heritage organizations; excellent ability working with children and youth in the arts; strong written and verbal communication skills in English; strong planning and organizational skills; ability to work with a diverse public; ability to carry out responsibilities in a professional manner.

Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for the Government of Canada’s Young Canada Works 2017 program and, if hired, will be required to obtain a Criminal Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. The AGNS-Yarmouth welcomes the participation of Government of Canada’s job equity groups (i.e. youth with a disability, Aboriginal youth, visible minorities, and new Canadians). Gallery facilities are wheelchair accessible.
