The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery is seeking an Outreach Programs Assistant to contribute to
the Gallery’s community outreach programs and Summer Art Camp program. The Outreach
Programs Assistant works closely with the Director of Public Programs, Public Programs
Coordinator and other gallery staff to help develop, implement, and evaluate community
outreach programs offered in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, as well as assist with the delivery of
the Summer Art Camp programs at the Gallery.

This position provides critical arts program research, development, implementation and
administrative support to the Gallery’s Public Programs Department and helps foster positive
and meaningful experiences for our program participants and visitors.


The Outreach Programs Assistant works directly with the Public Programs Coordinator to
develop and implement summer outreach programs and evaluate the programs’ progress.
Responsibilities include: researching, developing, and leading outreach programs at off-site
festivals and events; contributing to art instruction and supervision of participants for the
Gallery’s Summer Art Camp; developing and implementing an assessment tool for summer
outreach programs; and assisting with program administration and evaluation.

The Outreach Programs Assistant will work with a wide range of art media, creative tools for
teaching and learning, and cultivate an understanding of contemporary art and art practices.

Some evening and weekend work is required.


Skills and Qualifications:

- University undergrad, post-graduate or College student

- Background and strong interest in an arts-related field such as art history, studio art, or art
education

- Strong preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience developing and
implementing art or education programs

- Experience working with children aged 7-14

- Excellent organizational skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Excellent team building and group management skills

- Proficient in Word and Excel
